CULC launched it's involvement with the Cambridge Good Night Out campaign in 2015, in order to draw attention to and tackle the problem of sexual harassment on nights out. The campaign began in London, and its success inspired us to push for its introduction in Cambridge, alongside other student campaign groups. The aim is to get clubs and venues in the city to provide training for their security staff, to equip them to deal with incidences of harassment and other unacceptable behaviour effectively. We want to ensure that everyone knows they have the right to a good night out!
In Michaelmas term, we launched a petition aiming to get Cambridge's night-time venues to sign the GNO pledge. The petition received almost 400 signatures, and CUSU Women's Officer Charlotte Chorley presented it to the venues, so many of whom signed up to receive training from her and representatives from CUSU LGBT+. Thank you to all of you who got behind the campaign - there's still a lot more to come!
